If anyone is going to try this, I am going to be on server:
Silverlode

Names:
Stonebreaker
Amando

See ya there.
I would like to try it. Won't for a while (at least a month, maybe several) though. I am a huge LotR fan.
Been playing the beta for the past few months and I din't quite like it. Was kind of a bad hybrid between WoW and Dungeons & Dragons Online.

I don't know what others like, but I'm very against instances in MMOs. Blocks off lots of the other people in the game and it's kind of against what playing in a MMO means - to interact with other people out of random at any time.

Instancing is a necessary evil with some things. COSMOS was an absolute nightmare when it first came out - 24 hours to complete a mission that requires you to kill unique npcs in a public deadspace. = NPC corpers farming it, and lots of people left with faction standing hits and never being able to attempt that storyline. Ever. When I played EVE, I was a paying customer. I did not pay my monthly subscription to sit in a station waiting for several hours until the right number and combination of my friends were online for me to be able to go off and further my character's goals. It may be an MMO, but it's also an RPG, and a game I pay for regularly. By comparision; UT2k4 costs £10 for a CD key, and has no subscription fee. The moment I load up UT2k4 and log in, I can jump streight into a match and start enjoying myself, there is a single player mode included, as well as a lan version for me to play at LAN parties and the like. I didn't pay so much more for eve so that I can sit there playing drag and drop while my ship sucks roids/wait around for hours while a gang gets formed up and then rush to go and blob someone before they realise what's happening/wait for a specific NPC to respawn or similarly time consuming and onerous tasks since suitable reward would have had to have been better tan sex. Provision of instances ensures that there is suitable entertainment for me when I log into feel like i've not been ripped off.
I'm somewhat in the middle when it comes to instances. It's really not an EVE thing and the further away it's kept from EVE the better, for the most part. In the case of unique NPCs that have to be killed for COSMOS, I'd rather the complexes you found them in were locked with a unique key that the person who accepted the mission would get so only they cold unlock the gate for a few seconds, and then the key stops working after the mission time period has expired. Or something to that effect.

In other games I've played instancing as part and parcel of the load management system to keep lag down is great, but sometimes it does lead to the phat loots being too easy to get because there's no resource competition.
I think about testing lotro online.

I still have a Vanguard SoH trial key and am willing to exchange it for a lotro trial key - please send a pm if interested.
Vanguard, has been active for about 2 months now. They are no longer doing testing, I played it. It is buggy as hell. I liked the classes but it was to ugly and flawed to enjoy.

Lotro, had 5 days before it releases, so there will not be much time to get the code.

Lotro's has it's flaws but so far I am liking it kind of melow game play. So far very few rude people. Lets hope this stays.
Currently on EN-RP Laurelin.
