I know it went down shortly after DT, my son was playing but I didn't see the warning message. Shortly after it went down the API feed died (Evemon threw a fit) and so did the RSS feed. I checked and the website was gone.
Anyone online when it went down and see what the message was?
Getting withdrawal symptoms!!
Dunno but I can't get online now.
Is it weird that I'm happy that we have our own "Server Down" thread? Quick, post amusing pictures!
TQ went down with an emergency shutdown hours ago. The message said they had no idea when they will be back up. Dunno if that helps. ;-)
We performed a emergency shutdown of TQ and SQL Servers, no ETA
for TQ to get back up. - Wrangler
Is all I know.
They did this once before when they got major troubles, guess all
those problems they thought where fixed where the begins of a
major problem then peace after that was the quiet before the
storm :o
Make me think of several problems when they say they don't know
when it'll be back up.
1. They got hacked and code jacked.
by this I mean some one hacked there servers and stole the key
part's of tehir data and is ransoming it back to them for a tidy sum.
2. Their servers went Bang.
3. Some one accidently Deleted parts of the code and now it has to
be re written by hand or down loaded from a back up bit by bit.
4. Strike action.
5. Powercut and there back up generators don't have the juice for
long term power of there facilities.
6. Some discruntled Banned Player/ Ex-Employee hacked there
system or in case of the latter left a virus in the system.
Could be any thing I guess

I heard a rumour (not had time to try and substantiate it) that around the same time some other MMOs went down. Blizzard was mentioned. I'm wondering if maybe someone just found a security bug in the database they are using or something like that and they have taken everything down as a precaution while a patch is produced by the vendor.
It seems unusual that everything is down. Game servers, website, and so on.
Let's hope they have a good tale to tell when they finally come back.
All ccp's server stuff is linked together, game, site, feeds... if the core systems goes down for a patch or expansion, all of the parts stop working... same goes here.

Quote:<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> one of the db admins got hit with keylogger
<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> used an authorized account to shift spawn tables by one row
<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> meta 6 gear was being dropped from standard spawns of the affected npc group
<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> maintenance pruning returned 6539 officer items on one account, so the servers were shut down, forums are integrated and are also shut down
<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> not that long, we have full weekly backups
<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> unfortunately tracing all damage done manually is impossible, we have no tools designed to read transactions when the db itself is skewed
<&NTRabbit> <&Sharkbait> yes, no billing or account status was affected, thats part of the billing dept

http://www.ccpgames.com is down and that has nothing to do with Eve, it is their commercial server. Whatever the cause they clearly felt a need to take down their entire IT infrastructure - at least the outward facing part of it. That does suggest foul play of some sort, to me at least.
