And if he had been present, he would have been allowed to speak a challenge. I do, however, doubt he would have been able to defeat Evanda for the hand of Meklon.

Meklon went for Evanda's hand, Evanda went for Meklon's hand. If Sadao wanted Meklon's hand he'd still have to fight Evanda for it. Why can't he find himself a nice Gallente guy to dig on?
