I'm not sure about the actual limit. Seems very low to me, I think I gave about 5 ratings (to 5 different people) and it stopped me. Per 24 hours, seems kind of limited. Oh, and also, can we make it an unofficial rule that it's very bad to use alts to give reputation too ?
I think this limit really only affects things in the beginning. I have not sure what the limit is, really, but from my experience with reputation systems, it seems reputation is given out only for "exceptional" posts (in either direction), because otherwise it's just too much effort.
And about alts ... I see the reputation system primarily as a method of giving feedback to posts without derailing the thread. The comment is much more important than the reputation rating itself. If this turns into some kind of contest where people give reputation solely to make someone negative/positive, and use alts for that, then I'll either get those people a nice public "name and shame" session (and delete all the reputation they passed out), or disable the reputation system completely.
If someone thinks they are the target of some concentrated "reputation bashing" instead of actual criticism, you can always ask me to check who the reporters are and figure out what's going on.
Negative reputation works as well - got a butifull red styled -1 aside my picture.
Is it normal than I can see reputation comments of posts in places I can not access ? ( probably secure council )
