Virtual Foundations
Just a little something I am preparing to takemy character in a new direction soon. The Clan background has sat a little stale lately and I have had several ideas to build on.

Maybe a little mini-history though as this carries on from where my main story left off and also some stuff around The Empyrean Age and the Sanmatar stuff with Malaetu Shakor.
*SPOILER ALERT*
OK, so Khas Helgaard is the Elder of the Helgaard family in the clan. It is, like the other 5 families, a rather large extended family name. They are traditionally the builders and engineers of the clan. He thinks they should run the clan, not the Shakor. He tried to have Darius and the other Elders killed and Darius caught him after the failed attempt
But the clan was baddly damaged too and several families are now without Elders and the teachers called Immashens. Darius exposing Khas at the time would have caused massive infighting and also turn people agaisnt the Helgaard and the clan would implode. So Darius confronted Khas in private and kept it between them, warning Khas that any reason he gives him to have him exposed he would and then he would throw him to the dogs. And he expected Khas to tow the Shakor line from now on (essentially blackmailing him) or he would burn him and his whole family. Pretty much serious threats.
Now, in the time around the war and Shakor rising to power, they voted if they should back all this or not. (See Blood Red Dawn story somewhere on the forum) and Darius gave Khas' apprentice the chance to speak for one of the deminished families that Darius himself was originally speaking for until they recover a new Elder (this would, as the name Elder implies, take many years to come around)
Now Dienna Helgaard has been given a great chance too. This and Benton Helgaard being given some authority is Darius' genuine (and sly) outreach to the Helgaard to try and stave off more feelings like Khas has, that they are undervalued in the clan. Also if Khas tries to move against Darius in the future he would have a weaker position as Darius has given them much support. Not favourtism, but just support.
Anyway this is the foundation for more than just Darius' project. As will be revealed over the coming year.
