Welcome to the forums of the Electus Matari alliance. This is the post you should be reading when you just registered. Below, you should find answers to some of your questions. If you have further technical questions, post them in this forum section - "Public Community [OOC]".
General Questions
What is "Electus Matari"?
Electus Matari is a roleplaying alliance in the online game EVE Online. We are focused on roleplaying a pro-Republic group of capsuleer pilots. For further information, see our in-character introduction in the in-character FAQ.

How do I use these crappy forums?
Some "Best Practice" stuff:
1) Your main page should be the one linked as New Past Week in the top menu bar. It will show you all threads you have not read yet.
2) On that thread list, you can click the green arrow. It will take you to the latest unread post in that thread.
3) If you do not want to read some forum section - for example, "Intel Files" - you can go to the forum overview page and click on the round blue button next to the forum that shows that there are new posts in that forum. That will mark all threads in that forum as read. Now you can go to the New Past Week page.
Shouldn't I see more than just the public forums? Give me access!
To participate in these forums, register a forum account named like your character. This enables you to post to the public areas of the forums. Below is a list of groups that get more accesses than the default public view, and the people you can contact to gain access to those areas.

Use the API authentication to get access to this group.
As a member of Electus Matari, if you read the FAQ at the link above, understood how little information the limited API key reveals, and still do not want to use it to authenticate yourself, you can contact Arkady Sadik for a special "Tinfoil Access".

Is there any way to post convos nicely?
Yes, there is. Post them between [ convo]...[/convo] BBcode tags, which should handle the syntax highlighting for you.
The forum looks ugly. Make it prettier!
There are a number of themes installed already that you can switch between. To switch your theme, go to your User CP, Edit Options, in the Other Options group, there's a "Board Style" pull-down menu that you can use to switch to other themes.
If you don't like those themes, find a MyBB theme (for example, here or here) and tell Arkady about it. He'll put it up for you.
My account name is bad, can you change it or do I have to re-register?
There is no need to re-register to change your account name. Contact an admin to change it for you. If you did re-register already, we can also merge your old account into your new one. Again, contact an admin for this to happen.
What's the limits on avatars and signatures?
- Image size: 400x120 signature, 120x120 avatar
- File size: 24kb
- No animation
This is for when I need hard numbers. I'll happily make (some) exceptions to this if stuff looks cool or fits well. In particular, the "no animation" rule is there because animations on websites are distracting. If you make a sig that's animated without being distracting, cool with me. If your sig is 125 pixels high, who cares.
Just try to keep it sensible.
Killboard and Wiki
I can't access the killboard or the wiki
They're private, sorry. If you are a member of Electus Matari, make sure you have forum accesses beyond the public area (see above). If you still do not have access to the killboard, contact Arkady Sadik.
Domain
Can I get an email @electusmatari.com?
We can set up email forwards for addresses @electusmatari.com. These addresses should be given out very rarely and only to people needing them for alliance work to prevent any legacy cruft to pile up. If you think you should have such an address, talk with the alliance leader.
How about a corp homepage?
We can set up a subdomain of electusmatari.com to point to your corporation's homepage. We can not provide web space for you, though.
The following options exist:
1) Make the subdomain resolve to an IP address of your choice (CNAME).
2) Set up an HTTP redirect to your existing homepage.
3) A frame-based redirect, keeping the em.com address in the address bar.

Can my corporation get a forum here?
We can provide you with a single discussion forum as part of the em.com forums that is available only to your corporation. Please contact Arkady Sadik for this.
How much does this cost, and who's paying for it?
The web hosting is done via Host Europe and costs 12.99 EUR per month. Currently, Arkady is paying for it. If someone feels like supporting this with some money, feel free to donate. You can donate via PayPal or via bank transfer inside the European Union. Contact Arkady for details.
