Caesar flashed a twisted smile when he read the mail his informant sent him: “Ashif Sarum will be passing through low security Mandate space this time three days from now. I’ll sabotage the warp drive to stall out at the attached waypoint.” Men of god don’t come cheap but the 20 mil he spent bribing his former master’s favored priest was a bargain in Caesar’s eyes. Sarum’s priest had been on Caesar’s payroll for months now, gathering information and waiting for the perfect moment to betray the slave holder. This opportunity presented itself when Ashif decided to tour his relative’s holdings in Nakah, outside the protective reach of CONCORD and the Ammatar Navy. With his former master finally tracked down, Caesar could barely contain himself; he would finally have revenge for his early childhood.

Soon after reading the message Caesar sprung into action, he contacted Mordu’s Legion and hired a marine squadron, specifically trained for disabling and boarding ships. The contract was a simple one, assist him in capturing and boarding the vessel, neutralize all resistance, let him take care of business, and get him back home in one piece. Caesar didn’t intend on being an albatross about the mercenaries’ necks though, he’d purchased the best powered assault armor he could find for just this occasion, and he’d been spending most of his spare time training in boarding tactics; he wanted to make certain he got to kill Sarum up close.

The following three days were the longest of Caesar’s life, having long ago acquired the necessary provisions in anticipation of this day; there were little last minute preparations to be made, he made out his final will, settled his debts, and began reviewing the schematics of Sarum’s bestower. Even though the schematics would be easily accessible in his assault armor’s HUD, Caesar studied the schematics as though his life depended on knowing them by heart, for focusing on them was the only thing that kept the waiting from driving him mad.

Finally the eagerly awaited day arrived. At 08:00 hours the marine captian knocked on Caesar’s door

"It's time sir"

"Good, gather the men, I'll meet you on the boarding vessel"

Caesar walked swiftly to the private hangar, he had already donned his armor and loaded his pack, he was born ready for this.

The tension was palpable in the spartanly adorned Legion boarding vessel as the mercenary captain went over the plan to assault the Amarrian cargo vessel. Caesar counted the seconds until Sarum’s industrial was to drop out of warp, right into his trap. As he waited he thought about all he had gone through to get here: The slave revolt that led to his escape from slavery at the age of 10, the time he spent in a Caldari State youth military academy, getting his pod pilot license upon graduation from Pator Tech, and the countless mercenary contracts; all leading up to this, a trip aboard a mercenary vessel to a backwater system to intercept an obsolete cargo vessel with an even more obsolete owner aboard.

Like clockwork at 18:30 the industrial dropped out of warp and was immediately set upon by two Legion hawks, in a matter of seconds they destroyed the Bestower’s engines and locked down its electronic systems. The boarding vessel received the all clear and quickly attached the boarding tube to the hapless cargo ship, after cutting through all 75 marines aboard poured through the breach with Caesar right behind them. Much to Caesar’s delight, the Bestower wasn’t completely defenseless; through the course of the boarding action his autocannon took the lives 34 Amarrian security personnel. Despite the fierce resistance offered by the ship’s defenders they were no match for the veteran Legion marines and their armored employer, the ship was secured within an hour, leaving Ashif Sarum at Caesar’s non-existent mercy.

Caesar approached the locked door to Sarum’s cabin and attached a breach charge and cried out “Breach set!”

BOOM!

Strolling through the still smoldering door flanked by two mercs, Caesar pushed back his visor and grinned as the aging slaver berated him:

“FOUL HEATHEN! YOU WILL BURN IN HELL FOR THE CARNAGE YOU’VE WROUGHT THIS DAY!”

And with a smirk the matari replied “I’ll save you a seat”
*BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!*

Caesar leveled his autocannon at the dying Amarrian and sarcastically asked “Tell me old man, where is your god now?”

*BLAM!*

The encounter had effected Caesar in ways he hadn't anticipated, instead of giving him closure, killing Sarum seemed only to awaken something malevolent within him. Picking up Sarum's walking staff, he then turned towards the mercenary captian and said "Seems we were too late to liberate any slaves......destroy the escape pods and then the ship aboard and meet me back at the boarding craft."

The captian respoded "And the civilian crew?"

"............what about them? Leave them here, I don't know how up to snuff you are on interstellar law, captian, but in most nations what we've just done is called piracy, and I don't think I need to tell you what that means. If we spare the crew they'll just tell the authorities and then we'll be fair game in all civilized space. Besides, in working for this monster they've rendered their lives forfiet"

On his way to the door Caesar noticed a datapad, upon picking it up he saw it contained the coordinates for Sarum's brother's plantation; the blood had only just begun to flow........
