After watching this, I was amazed at how long this guy went with no air. So I looked up the world record for holding one's breath:
On land: 10m and change.
Under Water: 19m 10s.
That blew my mind. The difference in time seems to stem from a mammalian reaction to being immersed in water that restricts blood flow to the limbs, which reduces oxygen consumption.
And here I thought I was doing well when I went one whole minute holding my breath.....

19m10s is probably without any movement. I think that in a dive the record is around 6-7m (I don't talk about depth).

OK free diving is just deranged. It's basically competitive not drowning. The guys that do the power assisted plunge are more nuts though. I mean I'm impressed by the althleticism but those guys are nuttier then mountain climbers (with a similar mortality rate).

Hey, I'm all about climbing a mountain with belaying..... but those nutters that climb without (not to mention leaping off into to void to reach over a outcrop and grab at something they can't even see) make my head hurt just watching.
